For your Australian Astronomical Holiday Experience!
Experience the best Southern Sky by night and explore other telescopes by day with natural wonders included, then chill out with a BBQ by the pool.
The Tour includes transfers from/to Sydney airport, Coach Tours to the Parkes Radio Telescope (the Dish), a Guided Tour of the Siding Spring Observatory and Telescopes, walks of the World Heritage Warrumbungle National Park and other local attractions, spectacular country side and lots of fresh air.
Itinerary: 5 Night Tour.
Day one/
Travel from Sydney to Coonabarabran via the Blue Mountains visiting 'Echo Point' to see the 'Three Sisters' rock spires.
Luncheon at the historic Hydro Majestic Hotel before driving through to
Milroy Observatory to settle into your rooms, enjoy dinner at the Homestead and viewing at the Observatory.
Day Two/
Rise to a leisurely breakfast before a 10am bus departure for
a guided tour of Siding Spring including the Australian Astronomical Observatory
and some of the other telescopes at the site.
Lunch at the Exploratory Cafe before traveling to the town of Coonabarabran for
the Visitors Centre Display, Crystal Kingdom and the shopping strip.
We return to Milroy Homestead to relax before Dinner and an evening on the Milroy Observatory telescopes.
Day Three/
Rise for breakfast and board the bus to travel to the Parkes Radio Telescope (The Dish)
famous as the Prime receiving antenna for the First Moon Walk by Neil Armstrong and Buz Aldrin in 1969.
Lunch at 'The Dish Cafe' before heading back to Coonabarabran for
dinner and an evening of astronomy at the Milroy Observatory.
Day Four/
Breakfast, then depart to Narrabri to visit the Australia Telescope Compact Array.
Lunch at the Array.
A walk around the historic Sandstone Caves of the Pilliga Nature Reserve.
Return to Milroy Homestead to relax before dinner and astronomy at the Milroy Observatory.
Day Five/
Breakfast followed by a trip to the Pilliga Discovery Centre.
We move into the Pilliga Forest to walk the Dandry Gorge and enjoy the
'Sculptures in the Scrub'.
Fill up on a BBQ lunch.
Moving on we visit Pilliga Pottery for afternoon tea.
Return to Milroy Homestead for dinner and later Astronomy at the Milroy Dome.
Day Six/
Breakfast before we depart for Sydney via the Hunter Valley.
Lunch at the town of Denman prior to a 4.30pm arrival in Sydney.
